Because it's fun having two guys kill themselves over a girl.

Anyway, yay, my first Illustrator piece... took forever, still getting used to the controls.

The samurais were done first in one file. The geisha is another file. The final file is a composite of the figures and the background plus one other layer for the shadow in the foreground and the flare in the back.

Hm... well that's about it. No gradient mesh yet, I'll get round to figuring that out another day. I have to say I prefer Illustrator's color controls. I guess it's just the way the program handles color, for whatever reason the color seems deeper and richer than in Freehand.

This is a Samurai Duel by *sygnin between two ancient warriors, sword against sword, for the honor and the pride, one own's life and the other's death, for victory ...and for the attention and love of this beautiful geisha.

Very nicely done!
Like yamiza said, the colors are great. The lack of extreme contrast adds to the general flavor of the picture, methinks.

The perspective is nice and fits with the theme and style, and I like how you textured the ground around the flare in the back. Veddy nice.
