A few months ago, I complained about Adobe's decision to force people to upgrade by first upgrading to CS 5.5, and THEN upgrading to 6, if they wanted to take advantage of the upgrade discount.
This meant users with software older than CS5 would be expected to buy CS6 all over again without any discount. Traditionally, Adobe has had a tiered upgrade system where people with older versions can upgrade at a discounted price. The older your version, the less the discount.
The decision to do away with tiered upgrades was very unpopular, and a lot of people started to complain about Adobe's bully-like plans on the internet.
Earlier this year though, Adobe apparently changed its mind, and now it says that it will offer some sort of upgrade path for users of CS3 and CS4. They say it's 'special introductory pricing' to CS6, although to me that basically is a discounted upgrade.
Here is the annoucement on Adobe's website:
[link]I hope they do keep their promise on this, and that they won't forget the customers who chose not upgrade to CS5.
